Gamma Seal Lid

I LOVE the Gamma Seal lid.
You can place it on any 12" diameter bucket.
It makes the bucket airtight and leak proof.
There are 2 pieces to the gamma seal lid.--The "o ring" and the lid.
There are 5 colors to choose from: White, Red, Blue, Yellow and Black
I bought mine at www.beprepared.com for less than $10.

WHY and HOW I USE THE GAMMA SEAL LID:

WHY?
The gamma Seal lid saves me a lot of money.

HOW?
I have my year supply of basics stored away in cans from the cannery.
I don't open my cans of oats, sugar, flour, and wheat. (These are foods I use all the time.)
Instead, I have 4 food-grade buckets with gamma seal lids.  I fill them with bulk bags that I bought from the cannery.  The bulk bags of food are really inexpensive!!

Here is the "o ring". It snaps on and stays on the top of edge of the bucket all the time.
As you can see, I am almost out of wheat.  Time to refill!

Here is the lid.  You can see the white rubber seal.
I just refilled my bucket with (1) 25 lb. bag of wheat.

The lid is so easy to twist on.

Here is the top of the lid.  The bucket is now sealed.

Here is the 25 lb. bag of wheat I bought from the home storage center.

Wheat Information

Shelf Life: 30+ years

How Much You Need for a Year Supply:
You need 300 lbs. of wheat, white rice, white flour, corn, oats, rice, pasta, and other grains

I have 150 lbs. of wheat per person.

You can either get #10 cans or 45 lb. buckets of wheat
1 adult (7+ years)--(150 lbs.)
You can either get: (26) #10 cans
or (3) 45 lb. buckets
1 child (0-6 years)--(75 lbs.)
You can either get: (13) #10 cans
or (1.5) 45 lb. buckets

What can I make with wheat?
1. Cooked Wheat Berries
(eat with sugar and milk, like oatmeal or put in salads)

2. Cracked Wheat
(make cracked wheat cereal, or extend your hamburger)

3. Freshly Ground Wheat Flour
(substitute wheat flour in any recipe that calls for flour--bread, rolls, cookies)
TIP: Freshly ground wheat flour loses half of it's nutritional value 24 hours after you grind it.
So make sure to use your freshly ground wheat flour within 24 hours.
TIP: When you put 1 c. of wheat into your wheat grinder, you get about 1 1/2 c. of wheat flour

What is wheat grain, wheat berry and wheat kernel?
They are all the same thing.--The entire wheat grain that you get when you buy wheat.
